This is the inaugural workshop of the Emmy Noether Group EXTRA on "Experimental Philosophy and the Method of Cases". We want to address questions about the traditional "method of cases" in philosophy, and how it relates to various results from experimental philosophy and other empirical research. A particular focus will be on the question whether relying on intuitions about hypothetical thought experiment cases is still a trustworthy method in light of various experimental findings. We will also discuss whether there is a promising defense against this experimental challenge.
The conference is organized by the Emmy Noether Independent Junior Research Group EXTRA. We are grateful to the German Research Foundation (DFG) for generously supporting this event.
Attendance is open and free of charge. However, since space is limited, participants are kindly asked to register by sending an email to Alexander.Wiegmann@ruhr-uni-bochum.de
