L&P -- A Workshop on "Logic and Politics"
E-Mail Adresse für Einreichungen: firstname.lastname@example.org
Call-Bezeichnung: Call for Papers
Uhrzeit: 10:00 Uhr
Ende: 11.04.2022 13:00
Organisation: Franca d'Agostini, Elena Ficara, Fabien Schang
The aim of the workshop is to promote a confrontation about possible intersections of two spheres which have been held opposed, de jure and de facto: the formal theory of valid reasoning, and the practical theory of justice. There are reasons to think that new contacts between them would be especially profitable nowadays.
Political facts and theories have a certain power over the ways in which human beings reason and accept or reject beliefs, they may act on logical choices, and the conception of valid consequence one tends to endorse. Conversely, the ways in which politicians and common citizens reason, make decisions and choices in democracy have direct impact on public opinion and political choices. So there are reasons to ask:
What does Politics do, or can do (for better or worse), for Logic?
What does Logic do, or should do, for Politics?
The workshop intends to promote inquiries into the two directions; participants are invited to explore possible intersections between the two areas, in historical and/or theoretical, and/or programmatic perspective.
Deadline for abstracts: October 31, 2021
Notification of acceptance: November 30, 2021
The workshop will take place on 6-11 April 2022 (during the UNILOG congress).
