The workshop aims to further develop the concept of epistemic trust in the context of expert testimony and to investigate the relevance of trust-based accounts of testimony for explaining knowledge practices in scientific research and science communication. Taking the debate on the nature of trust as a starting point, the workshop will bring together researchers working on related questions in social epistemology, philosophy of science, and ethics. Submissions addressing the following topics are particularly welcome: Differences between epistemic trust and non-epistemic trust; Trust as an epistemically rational attitude; Different phenomena of epistemic trust in the sciences; Epistemic trust and epistemic authority; Scientific expertise and epistemic authority; Trust in experts and testimonial knowledge; The role of trust for the social organization of science; Trust and science communication
